Hi, can someone explain to me why both of them show matches normally when british team play away with black band on side of the video and not in widescreen ? What is and if possible to do to see it in full screen ?
Thank you in advance ciao

Same prob here. Channel 5 does the same. I didn't find any solution to this problem.

its because away matches are normally filmed by a local host broadcaster and BBC,itv or sky pay them to take the pictures. Some of the host broadcasters still use a 4:3 aspect ratio and don't use a 16:9 wide-screen format. So the black lines are inserted at either side so the picture is not stretched or distorted (eg. a round ball may look more like a rugby ball). If you notice the top picture below with the black lines looks much better than the stretched image below.

Hi bunglenufc,
I don't think it's that problem but more a full frame of black bands.
I'm not sure though but that happens to me with UK channels sometimes.

i noticed when i watched the uefa cup game last thursday on itv4 this same problem, i switched my dreambox output to 4:3 pan and scan and it filled the screen of my plasma tv which was in 16:9 mode...
