Is de Jupiler Pro League binnenkort ook te zien in het buitenland? Als het van de Profliga afhangt wel. De vertegenwoordigers van de topclubs (Anderlecht, Standard, Club Brugge, Genk) en de kleintjes (vertegenwoordigd door Herman Wijnants) zaten daarover maandag samen. Momenteel zijn er vier kandidaten om de tv-rechten te kopen: Global Sportnet, Sportfive, EJC en IMG. Een lucratieve deal zit er niet onmiddellijk in. Zo brengen de televisierechten van de Nederlandse Eredivisie over de grens zo'n drie mioen euro op. De Griekse competitie slechts 100.000 euro.

Good news if you ask me! Hopefully we'll see Belgian football on a bunch of foreign satellite channels in a bit ;D

Belgium's Jupiler Pro League and IMG Sports Media today announce a three-season representation agreement aimed at promoting Belgian football internationally. IMG will assume exclusive responsibility to distribute the audio-visual media rights of the Pro League worldwide outside Belgium. Ludwig Sneyers, General Manager of the Jupiler Pro League, said: "The Pro League wants to enhance its international profile. We are happy to partner with IMG, which has a proven track record in delivering revenues and exposure." Good news but nothing popped up yet... Last week the RC Genk - Standard game was on YES Sport but that's an agreement Genk made with the Israeli TV company.
