well let me answer your interesting question in two parts why should they? answer- because they advertised it extensively on there own epg and channel adverts how can they? they are a foreign broadcaster and pay to feature epl throughout europe

If the event isn't covered in HD by Setanta nobody can screen it in HD. They could upscale the SD feed but it's more likely they might have made a mistake on their EPG.
To answer to the second part: they don't pay to feature it in Europe, they pay to screen it in Scandinavia.

I saw this game today on canalplus sport SD in france, but i think the game wasn't shown live, the game was at 14h55 paris time...

i watched it live in sd on canal plus scandanavian i could have sworn they advertised it in hd oh well the sd feed from them is very very good anyway the best of all id say
